Affiliate disclosure

Last updated: October 2026

This site is free to use. Some links to retailers may earn us a commission, and this page explains exactly what that means.

What an affiliate link is

When you click a link to a retailer on this site and then buy something, the retailer may pay us a small commission through an affiliate network. You pay the same price as you would have paid anyway. We do not see your name, address or payment details.

How you can tell

Where a link is an affiliate link, we say so on the page, and every page carries a note in the footer. Links to official sources, such as UK Government pages, are never affiliate links.

Who we may earn from

Retailers we link to may pay commission through affiliate networks such as Awin, or through programmes such as Amazon Associates. We will list the networks and programmes we have joined on this page as we join them.

How this affects what we recommend

If we are paid only when you buy through our links, we have a financial interest in you buying. That is why we try to be clear about what is worth buying and what is not, and why many of our guides start with jobs that cost nothing.

We choose what to recommend first, based on usefulness, value and availability, and only then look for where to buy it. We do not accept payment to feature or rank a product. A retailer that has no affiliate programme cannot earn us money, so it may appear less often than a retailer that does.

Prices and buying

Prices on this site, where shown, were checked on the date given and can change. The price on the retailer's website when you buy is the price you pay. We are not the seller: your purchase is a contract between you and the retailer, and their terms for delivery, returns and refunds apply.

Corrections

If you spot an error, an out-of-date price or a link that does not work, please tell us on the contact page.
